Join us for the launch of two new Footprints in Time (FIT) trails at Bonnechere Park. These FIT trails are specially designed to provide accessible outdoor spaces for people of all ages living with low vision, hearing loss and mobility issues.
Thanks in part to these trails, in June 2024, Bonnechere Park received Gold Level Certification from the Rick Hansen Foundation.
The Nàdòbìkana FIT Trail is located at the mouth of the Little Bonnechere River and the Nòpiming FIT Trail can be accessed from the accessible parking lot at the Park entrance.
These special outdoor spaces pay homage to the Algonquin Peoples who have lived on this land for 12,000 years. Come learn more about their traditional teachings and way of life. As you walk the self-guided trails you can also learn words in the Anishinabe language.
Members of The Circle of Turtle Lodge will share drumming, singing and ceremony during this special celebration as we recognize the volunteers and partner organizations who supported this project.
