On August 10, 2022, Anne Burchat and Jane Duff were pleased to represent the Friends of Bonnechere Parks at a presentation of honour to Mary Croft, wife of the late Dave Croft, held at the Champlain Trail Museum/Upper Ottawa Valley Heritage Centre.
Dave Croft contributed greatly to archaeological research in and around Bonnechere and Bonnechere River Provincial Parks, as well as other areas in the Ottawa Valley. The Ottawa Chapter of the Ontario Archaeological Society presented a certificate of appreciation to Mary and her family in thanks for Dave’s works, and presented to the Museum a large collection of his works exploring the area over many years.
Dave was a true friend to us at Bonnechere Park, encouraging us to explore the cultural history of the area and learning about archaeology in general.
“Archaeological research conducted by Dave Croft within the Ottawa Valley over many years has provided archeologists and the local population with a wealth of information which will be studied and valued by many for years to come. We are most grateful for Dave’s love of archeology, the Ottawa Valley and the many artefacts he came upon as well as the articles he published based on his research.”
