Job Description
- Work with, and assist the Bonnechere Park Discovery staff with special events and assist with program development focussed on the natural and cultural heritage of the Little Bonnechere River
- Support the FBP merchandising program, using creativity and retail skills to arrange merchandise displays to maximize sales potential and manage merchandise inventory.
- Use social media to assist with the promotion of the FBP programs and activities. Explore opportunities for the FBP to participate in the local community.
- Research and solicit information to expand the presence and visibility of the FBP in Bonnechere Park and the community.
- Assist Park staff with maintenance and monitoring the various woodland trials.
Required Skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills to prepare and present special events and programs to Park visitors.
- Ability to plan, organize and manage daily assigned work as well as longer-term projects
- Creativity and initiative to maintain FBP merchandise.
- Computer applications such as Microsoft Suite, Facebook and other social media platforms.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
Salary
- Funding for this position is primarily through the Canada Summer Jobs Program with support from Ontario Parks.
- Pay rate: $16.55 per hour. (36.25 hours per week, 7.25 hours per day).
Employment Terms
- Start Date: contingent on the hiring process
- Length of Contract: up to 12 weeks.
- Must be able to work weekends, various shifts and holidays.
- To be eligible, youth must be between 15 and 30 years-of-age, and be either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
