Basin Depot 1999-2000 - Bones
These bones are mostly from large mammals. Leg bones were sometimes smashed to extract the marrow (upper right). A left cow hip has a butchering cut (upper left). Chickens (lower middle) were kept for meat and eggs. They were easy to raise because they'd forage and/or eat kitchen scraps. And a single chicken could easily be consumed by one family before the meat spoiled.
