Lafleur House - Metals
This diverse collection provides for some degree of speculation. The handle with the escutcheon undoubtedly adorned a chest or other piece of furniture; the L bracket would have been attached to a cabinet or door. Wire is a favourite quick fix for many a handyman, while the chain with wire and clip may have served to latch a gate.
Collection: Lafleur House and Summer Kitchen
Period: Early 20th Century
This type of hardware would have graced mass-market sideboards, buffets, dressers, and chests. Specimens exhibiting similar styling were common on less expensive furniture before and after the turn of the 20th century. They were usually plated with a finish that imitated more expensive brass hardware.
