1880: Stopping Places
Many a Bonnechere logger passed through stopping places on their way in and out of the bush. These early inns also provided an important source of income for the families on the Bonnechere Road who ran them, including Currier, Lafleur, Keenan, Garvey, McGuey, McDonald, and McIntyre.
"[Sligo House] wasn't a very big house, but there was an upstairs and a downstairs to it, you know. They just take in anyone who come after a meal or if they want to stay the night or something like that. But when the gangs was there and the drivers and everything, they used to make dances, just all the men you know, dancing." ~ Hannah McGuey Hyland
