50 CE: A Prehistoric Beach
A 100-metre deep sand delta marks where the prehistoric river met Round Lake. It has become dry land because both river and lake have shrunk. Wind-blown sand dunes, now vegetated, help remind us of this past. The Little Bonnechere River now weaves for kilometres across the delta, ending at a small beach and the future Bonnechere Provincial Park.
